Wont Boot W/O DVD

I have been using openSUSE for about 5 or 6 months now and have come along way as far as comprehention goes. The problem I continue to run into is the OS loading process. I have my bios set to read the optical drive first then move onto the hard drives. If I do not have the install disk in at the point of loading the optical drive it just prints a message that says GRUB and does nothing from that point. If I have the install disk in it will load and from there I hit the Boot From Hard Disk, then it will load correctly. I have tried playing around a little in the bootloader section of Yast2, but I have had no success and end up having to re-install. Can someone please help me, as this is a very annoying side effect of what is otherwise an awesome OS.

Something is wrong with GRUB only. Boot up from SuSe Installation CD/DVD and select Installation. Select Upgrade/Update in next option list. Click next, next,... next. Installer will re-install GRUB.

I prefer GRUB only because its more easy to handle than Lilo. Boot up from SuperGRUB CD and select 'Fix Linux Boot Loader ( GRUB )' option.
