I have two pc's one run's vector linux 5.9 and the other opensuse 10.3 i don't have a router i want both pc's too share an internet connection i use my phone as a modem on opensuse using kppp is there any way of sharing a connection also can i access the files on my open suse machine through vector Thanx

You need more hardware.

Best add a cheap router.

You could add a second network card to one of the machines and make it act as a router. After all most cheap routers run Linux.

How many slots do you have??

In my opinion you should just get a router. A lot less trouble and they aren't that expensive. In addition you have a switched network that you can plug more net device into. Why put the router load on to your PC? In another post you were lookig at ways to speed it up. Now you want to have it do more work.

i dont really need a router i only have two pcs and the internet connection is not really a problem neither is my speed i just wanna learn how to do it i can get two or three NIC cards and was gonna put them on the pc with vector for i dont really use it much also get a laptop or two just too test the router i just wanna learn how to do it get some experience thanx anyways
