compizfusion + firefox = slow performance?

is there a reason why when i run firefox when compizfusion is running that my web browsing is slow, and compizfusion eye candy looks like its running on a crappy intergrated intel video card?
And is there a way to prevent that from happening?

Do you have your 3D drivers installed correctly? That sounds like a side effect of using the wrong driver.
