I installed ati-driver-installer-8-6-x86.x86_64.run from ATI website and now my display is refreshing verrrry slow. If I move a window from one place to another on the desktop it leaves a trace... also when I scroll up or down a document or a page it is very slow.

If I go to sysinfo:/ it shows me that I have the fglrx driver installed.

I have a Toshiba A210 laptop and I am running on openSUSE 11.
Please let me know what I can do.... thank you.

You can go back to the the default driver by editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file as root and change "fglrx" to "vesa".

Then restart Xwindows by log off and back on.

If the GUI is too messed to do it from there you can go to a terminal. by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1 key log on as root then edit the above file. You can use any text based editor. I use nano but it is no longer installed by default. vi is always available but if you have never used it you might find it intimidating. Try joe it is a nice simple editor and you should not have problems and I think it is still installed by default.
the following commands my be useful

init 3 stops the GUI and places you into text mode with internet
init 5 starts the GUI
init 6 starts the reboot sequence
