transfer of files

Can anybody help me with transferring files from a windows Xp server to Suse linux 11.0? I using Suse for the first time.........any help is extremely appreciatedd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are several options you can try. You could use ftp (or sftp which is more secure), scp (this needs ssh and on windows, you can use putty to ssh into Linux machines). Another option is to use samba and setup shares between the Windows server and SUSE.

Enable SSH on the Linux server, connect to the box in Windows using a program called WinSCP. You can also use WinSCP to connect via FTP or SFTP.

PuTTy is an awesome tool, but not so much for file transferring. Unless you were using rsync to transfer files from one Linux box to another.
