hey guys i installed opensuse 11 and i wanna run internet on it ,i have dsl connection at home and i might need kInternet to establish it ,plzz can u show me in details what to do

Wired, wireless? I assume it isn't working after the install? Did you configure the connection via Yast?

Read the wireless setup sticky and post the requested info. Good for both wired and wireless troubleshooting.

buddy it's a DSL connection via PPPOE .........so it's wired
and i wanna know how to configure it ,i tried with yast >network settings>DSL
but the KInternet warn me that smpppd probably might be not working
so what can i do npw ....thanks on advance

Your original post was vague and contained no useful information. You could well have DSL coupled with a wireless router, and I made the assumption that it was your network card you were having trouble with. Being rude isn't going to get you much help.

If you would have originally provided this info, we would have had something to work with.

When asking for help, First: BE POLITE! Everyone here is a volunteer, helping out of the goodness of their heart.

Second: Give as much info on the problem as you possibly can. We only know as much as you tell us. People here in the USA with DSL don't need to use a PPP connection. The modem does all that. (at least that is my experience)

Try starting/restarting smpppd. I am not sure exactly how to do it in YaST, but it should be under the Services section.

I assume that the DSL modem is connecting to your NIC?

What are the exact problems you're having? Can you ping the modem? If so the NIC is working and you may have to set up the nameservers for your ISP. I had to do this w/ my internet connection. My DSL modem is ppoe as well, but it connects to my router and then my router to my NIC.

More information on your set up please.

this is the exact problem that showed up
1st how should i reactivate smpppd service
and 2nd what's the dialout group
if that wasn't my problem plz anyone showm from the start how to establish a connection through my dsl opensuse11 configurations
and i will appreciate any help ......thanks so much in advance

Allow me to take an example from this post, and another of your posts.
Prefacing your reply with "buddy", the use of CAPS, the trailing "....so it's wired", strongly imply a derogatory or dismissive attitude. Perhaps it's the limitations of expressing yourself in writing, or a language barrier, but most people would consider it impolite.

In neither post did you give enough information to adequately answer your question, so if the responses we give to not address your actually problem, it's because we don't have enough to go on and are trying to find out what the actually issue is.

In your post regarding installing Azureus, the poster was correct to direct you to your package manager. Most distros have Azureus available in their repositories. RHEL probably does not, but there are rpm packages build for RHEL5 available for download from third party sites.

If you're asking for help here, you should probably assume that the people responding might have information you do not. If you don't think their response gets at your trouble, ask politely for more information or clarification.
