which file is the startup file in suse9.3?
If I have to add something like "export FPATH=/usr/share/ksh/functions" to the startup file, which file should I add it to?

Add that line to any of these files:

What if I want to make that path available to all users on my system? Will adding it to

~/.bash_profile
~/.bashrc
~/.profile

do the job?

Use /etc/profile then.
