wlan with encryption on SUSE 9.3

Hi,

I have trouble getting my wlan to work when encryption is enabled.

System info:
I’m running a SUSE 9.3 default installation.
My NIC is a 3com OfficeConnect Wireless 11 mbps PCMCIA card, and SUSE has no trouble recognizing my card.
My router is a Linksys WRT54G, setup only to transmit 802.11b.

Here is the problem:
If I disable encryption on my router, I have no problem connecting to my wlan. I obviously don’t want my wlan to by unencrypted so I enable encryption, WEP 128 bit. And now I can’t connect to network. I use kinternet to manage my network, and I have tried to enter the encryption key as passphrase, ascii and hex using as well open as shared key. Nothing works. Kinternet says; You have successfully connected to “SID”, but I don’t get and ip-address.

Hope someone can help me! Because I really want to run Linux on my laptop, but XP just makes wifi a lot easier.

have you tried encription in windows? I tried wep incription as well, but the connection speeds drop somewhat (this on 802.11g). It could be that the connection is not fast enough with incription enabled. I just use MAC address filtering.

encryption workes fine in windows. Until I resolve the encryption problem I use MAC filtering, and I have disabled SID broadcast too. But I still would like to get encryption working with linux.... if nothing else, because it must be possible.
