"550 Failed to change directory." with FTP

I have vsftpd setup on my linux machine. I can connect fine using the console. I can also connect fine remotely from my Windows machine using FileZilla or Dreamweaver. However, I cannot access my FTP directory using a web browser. If I go on my Linux machine and type in the web browser: ftp://localhost/ or I try ftp://192.168.1.50/(the Linux machine's IP address) I will get this error message in the web browser: "550 Failed to change directory"

Can anyone tell me why I might be getting this error message? Any help would be appreciated.

solution

Hey man,

This is something regarding SELinux probem. So please set your ftp related booleans. In Red Hat Enterprise Linix, # setsebool ftpd_disable_trans on

Now you have to restart vsftpd

Try it
