In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

Check first to see that 'dcopserver' is running...
Then check the ownership and access attributes of your home directory (from root directory down) and everything in it -- just in case you somehow changed something (like to root ownership).
Just a thought...
