Linksys WRT54GS setup

so here's the deal. i have two computers, one using SuSE 10.2 and one with Windows XP. I have a Linksys wireless card installed on XP and have been trying to configure the WRT54GS router in SuSE. I've been doing alot of searching and haven't found any definitive info on how to set this up on linux. If anyone could post some links or info i would be grateful....

define 'configure the router' ... If you can get it working in windows then it should work in linux provided your wireless card is configured. Unless of course your talking about mac filtering or something.

As for getting your wireless card up and running in linux, you need to post more details like the make and model before we can be of help.

try posting the output of lspci (as root) for a start.

Thanks for the reply...
I'm not actually concerned about the wireless card, as it's installed on my Windows computer. I'm tryin' to set up a network with my main (SuSE) computer with router and my Windows computer with wireless card.

I purchased a Linksys WRT54GS router, and am currently trying to make it work with linux and don't know where to start. When everything is hooked up (computer >router >cable modem) i can't access the internet. I tried getting the administrative access by typing http://192.168.1.1/ in the web browser without success.

So basically i'm just asking where to start getting my router to work with linux. I have not found any good/definitive information so far to help me.

open up a terminal and type ifconfig (as root)

it should give some relevant info about your network devices. Post it here. Also, type lspci for info on your hardware.

Without that info, we have nothing to work with to get you the answers you need.

Hope to hear from ya!
