hi all,
a server got login problem. i didn't knew how to solve it because i already put the right username and password.i also put the root password but it was same problem. The problem is it would display 'error in service module' even i press ctrl+alt+F3.i used the console from my computer, i can accessed to that server and went to its box using 'ssh root@'..i don't know how to solve but i think i can do something with my console. if yes, can u pls describe details about the steps...i don't want to reinstall or repair suse system in that server because i really2 new in Linux...i afraid if i do some other trouble...help me friends.......

there must have been some tweak on the PAM modules as per my guess.
Boot into single user mode (kernel command prompt as single) and then try fixing it.

what bhaslinux meant was ......... as soon as u boot, u'll find boot menu for suse......there are boot options in the bottom of the screen ....... type single there & press enter....... it will take u to the single user mode...... try to correct d problem from there & then reboot...

ooo..i see...sorry i'm new in Linux...ok...i know that user mode...so what the command should i type there?and what the other steps to get me into it...tq for u guys...

after u r logged in as single user mode, start yast by giving the command yast....... & rest of the stuff u can configure from there. check out the security & logic manager & authentication........whether it is ldap, /etc/passwd, nis, samba......
ideally it should be local /etc/passwd.
this could be the reason that u r not able to log in b'cas u might have selected some other authentication system. when u install the system in d last it ask for what type of authentication u would like to do....... choose local /etc/passwd there...
may be this would solve ur problem.

ok...my problem now is i can't start the yast. it was displayed that error in opening logfiles in /var/log/Yash2/y2log...

From the command line it is yast2 to start it. Are you sure you are in single user mode??

#the command is
yast
#yast2 is the graphical tool. u need to run yast on the console, it is based on ncurses.
also kindly post what was the authentication that u chose while installation was finalizing.
