    If something isn't working properly, a kernel upgrade can often fix things. Otherwise, there's really no reason for needing to upgrade unless you simply want to be running the latest version.

    all right but then does that mean i have to reconfigure everything again graphics bluetooth etc for example if i update with yast is there any extra tweaking that needs to be done

    I've never used bluetooth, so can't speak for that, but the only thing I've had to do was to reinstall nvidia drivers after upgrading the kernel, and no tweaking was required. I'm running Arch, so it uses Pacman rather than Yast.

    I agree. AFAIK, one dont have to configure/tweak anything except Nvidia/ATI driver after Kernel upgrade.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
