    Question how to disable xgl ?

    am using suse10.2.. when i tried to enable xgl, it sait that 3d can be enabled but not the desktop effects.. and when i enabled it, ma GUI is not loading.. when i try "gnome-xgl-switch --disable-xgl" from command line, it doesn't work out.. am using ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 card integrated with the motherboard.. how can i disable and come back to normal GUI from command prompt????
    can i use xgl on my graphics card???

    Uninstall XGL

    It may be your Video does not have enough power to do the full 3D effects.

    oops thought you were in the GUI

    you can use yast from the command prompt. Use the tab key to move between options.

    You could get back to the GUI by resetting the driver to vesa

    sax2 -r -m 0=vesa (0 is a digit, not a letter!)

    then restart the GUI with

    init 5

    You may find this useful: Type yast2 as root. System->/etc/sysconfig Editor->Desktop->Display manager->DISPLAYMANAGER_XSERVER and set it to Xorg

    I have the same graphics card, Suse 10.2 and I have video effects without any problem. In the past I was able to use Beryl without problem (except from the integrated problem that Beryl itself had).
