    Hi valemon !

although I had selected opensuse in grub menu, it booted into Windows.
Thats strange. Select Suse title again and press 'e'. What does it show? Chainloader block or Kernel Block?
Press Enter key and check other titles too.

Could you post the contents of menu.lst file and output of fdisk -l command? You can use any LiveCD for that.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I finally managed to get grub working. Any time I perform a kernel update grub seems to mess up as well as the vga mode. I am currently using 0x317 for a 1280x800 resolution laptop. Is there a vga mode for my resolution?

    Well Done !

Check this Post. 0x317 is for 1024x768 / 16Bit. Try a few others.

I am currently using 1024x768. I was just wondering if there was a mode for wide screens because I searched and could not find something related. Thanks for your help anyway!
