    Master Resource Control: runlevel 5 has been skipped

    This was a surprise. SLED10.1 was working fine last night and upon boot this morning I couldn't get past the commandline. I do have access to Yast however, have not been able to boot to the gui. Any ideas are appreciated.

    What did you install??
    What video driver?

    as root type
    init 5

    what errors if any

    Master Resource Control: runlevel 5 has been skipped

    Entering init 5 returns no information. I believe the last install I did was for Flash 9. I also was working with some WMA information.

    Are you running any special video drivers?

    As root try

    sax2 -r -m 0=vesa (0 is a digit, not a letter!)

    then init 5

    this will reset video back to the vesa driver.

    This might help if a driver problem.

    Thanks very much for your assistance. I tried to repair the problem and ended up way over my head. Finally, I decided to reinstall SLED10 and then move to SP1. I am back up again and all is well.
