Booting OpenSuSe 10.2 with two SCSI controllers
All
I have an old scsi windoze drive that I need to get data off of thats on a 2940 controller and a have recently installed OpenSuse 10.2 on a different scsi raid controller.
However whats happing is the first scsi drive is seen and windows boots not Suse which resides on the 2nd scsi controller. The objective of this is to boot SuSe copy any data files off the windoze drive and then wipe the drive and put it to some good linux use. However no matter what SCSI id i set on the adaptec the system first sees the winders drive and sets it as C: and boots from it. Both controllers are seen by bios during post. Also SuSe boots fine if the winders drive connected to the adaptec is not present.
I can boot from CDROM or floppy no problem. Does anyone know how to stop the 2940 from allowing windows to boot. If they were created on the same controller it would be simple just change the scsi id and hopefully all would be well.
Creating a bootable floppy with drivers for the raid controller may be an option but someone may have a more elegant fix for this any ideas?
