    Unhappy ATI 8.36.5 driver problems

I was playing Unreal Tournament 2004, when all of a suddend my game started getting jerky (which is strange because I have a Radeon 9600 with the 8.36.5 drivers) so I exit the game and start it again, and I'm still getting the jerky-low-FPS feel in the game. So I run the "glxgears" command and I'm getting around 15 FPS, which was strange because I was getting 120 FPS yesterday. So I figure all I need to do is reinstall the drivers, will this is the FPS I'm getting now after reinstalling:

    Code:
    linux-ybaf:~ # fgl_glxgears
    Using GLX_SGIX_pbuffer
    1174 frames in 5.0 seconds = 234.800 FPS
    809 frames in 5.0 seconds = 161.800 FPS
    912 frames in 5.0 seconds = 182.400 FPS
    1038 frames in 5.0 seconds = 207.600 FPS
    linux-ybaf:~ # glxgears
    50 frames in 5.0 seconds = 9.956 FPS
    50 frames in 5.0 seconds = 9.992 FPS
    50 frames in 5.0 seconds = 9.960 FPS
    50 frames in 5.0 seconds = 9.984 FPS
What the heck is going on and how can I get my good FPS back?
