Question Issues using TightVNC on SuSe 10.5 & Windows XP workstations

    Hi again guys,

Last time I posted I had no Linux knowledge, now I have 1% more than what I did know...lol

I have my server up and running now and I want to be able to use VNC from any PC in our office to this server.

I have enabled remote control and the firewall is turned off, when I connect to the Linux server using port :5901 I get the attached screen and it does not change http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...etoconnect.jpg

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Hi guys,

I have resorted to installing the new version of TightVNC and from the terminal used the

    #VNCserver

I then connected to the server using :5901 port...and all i can see is the terminal

I'm trying to set this up for my boss who dosn't have the time to learn Linux same as myself. Does anyone know a way of enabling a GUI version of this?

    Thanks,

    Alex

I think you are wanting your bos to be able to see the remote machine's desktop as if he were sitting in front of it... yes? See here...

    Hi Dan,

Thats correct, I want to be able to see the physical desktop from my Windows PC.

I looked at that program and I couldn't see anything...I think I might be going blind though from all the Google'n I've been doing!

I wrote a "How To" on here somewhere... I'll see if I can find it now that I have more time...

EDIT: Not really a "how to." but there is a wealth of information of this page. I'm going to have to write a how to on this, as so many folks need to be able to log into a Linux machine from either Windows or Linux and see the vnc server's desktop as though they were physically in front of it.
