suse 10.0 need gcc (yes, again.)

Hullo all once again, I am having the same problem taht I had about 6 mos ago: I have suse 10.0 installed from one of those free dvd's, this distro does not include gcc- I need to figure out how to add repos to the installation source, find a suitable repo and do the installation. I tried just downloading the latest gcc and going that route but it requires comilation so no go!

I guess I need an rpm- I had it working before but ended up going with a different linux distro- I am sticking with suse 10.0 this time because the machine it is on is a really old one @ 233MHz and from what I gathered the newer versions of opensuse require much more resources than I have available.

So, any advice about how to best proceed- I am not set on suse but I only have a network available using wifi to download and install any other distro versions that may be better, so this has limited what distros and methods I am abkle to use to get a new linux going on this box! I would prefer to try Slackware but as far as I have investagated it cannot be done using a wifi network installation? correct?

anyhow, I would also benefit from some good and useable sources (repos..), I seem to have misplaced where the last related thread was at, hence my writing the same stuff over again in a new one! thanks in advance jd
