    nvidia driver issues

    So i installed the driver for my video card. Everything works properly while working in init 5...but if i try to do anything win init 3, my scren kind of cuts vertically in half and then flip-flops the two halves while shoving the whole screen down on the monitor to where i am unable to se what commands i am typing. Any suggestions? The card is an nvidia 8800 gts, the driver is, nvidia-gfxG01-kmp-default.
