Hie, am fairly new to linux so lot of help is needed. I would like to enable my 3D but the check box on my sax2 is greyed out. is there a way to tweek this manually or in some config file

    my sysinfo
    OS: Linux 2.6.18.2-34-default i686
    System: openSUSE 10.2 (i586)
    KDE: 3.5.5 "release 45"

    Display Info
    Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc
    Model:
    Driver: unknown

VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV530LE [Radeon X1600]
    Driver "kbd"
    Driver "mouse"
    Driver "fglrx"

i downloaded an ATI driver a while back when my screen resolution was not working and that's now fine though it says my card is VESA Framebuffer Graphics, don't know if it should say that if its ATI

    Check this out

    http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/sus...r-problem.html

Try running glxgears from a console. See what frame rates are reported. low 100 or under no acceleration above or near 1000 acceleration is on.

i ran the gears and got
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
    3873 frames in 5.0 seconds = 773.577 FPS
    3620 frames in 5.1 seconds = 715.771 FPS
    3960 frames in 5.2 seconds = 768.186 FPS
    3461 frames in 5.0 seconds = 690.896 FPS
    3840 frames in 5.0 seconds = 766.555 FPS
    4812 frames in 5.0 seconds = 962.400 FPS
    4943 frames in 5.1 seconds = 978.401 FPS
    4800 frames in 5.0 seconds = 955.773 FPS

but my games inform me that i have no 3D,

    glxinfo gives me
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: Mesa Home Page
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
    OpenGL version string: 1.4 (1.5 Mesa 6.5.1)
    and not
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON X850 PRO Generic
    OpenGL version string: 2.0.6286 (8.33.6)

so i am going to try reinstalling the drivers like in the tutorial says
