Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to add a mirror site as a service, but the one listed in this tutorial (Using rug - openSUSE) isn't working for me. I'm getting the following error:
# rug sa --type=zypp Index of /pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/suse factory
Adding zypp service...

ERROR: Could not add 'http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/suse': Failed to parse XML metadata: Can't add repository at http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/dist...t-source/suse: Cannot create the installation source
I'm guessing I need to try other mirror sites, but I can't find a list of any. Does anyone know where I can get one?

You are not hitting the directory with the meta data in it. In your browser navigate to the site address above. Most likely you will need to add an additional directory like /10.2 or /10.1 that would be where the meta data or file lists are stored for your version of Suse. THe installer needs the meta data so it knows how to sync that packages.

On our local server, i located the folder with the xml files in it. The directory is located here:
ftp://ourserver/suse/i386/update/SUSE-SLES/10/repodata
I plug that into the rug command and I still get the same error telling me that it failed to parse XML metadata.
