Cool trick - How do you do it?
After browsing through numerous websites trying to get my (openSuse)KDE desktop how i want it, i have seen examples of what looks to be terminals embedded in the desktop.
What i mean is, the text is visible but the frame and background isn't.
I have seen a screenshot of fluxbox with this done, but wondered if anyone can tell me:
a) can it be done for KDE?
b) if so how?
What i want is two areas on my desktop that display a tail -f of logs that i need to keep an eye on.
Any info/help would be very grateful, thank you

I believe he's referring to something like this:
Linux Tip: Embed the terminal on the desktop - Lifehacker
Only in KDE. There's a comment on that page on how to get it working in KDE.Registered Linux user #270181

Not hard to do. Some terminals such as Eterm (and aterm and konsole as well, iirc) let you run them with no window decorations, and transparent. Also you can specify the size and width of the terminals, set them to not list on the taskbar, window list, or whatever you want to call it, and maybe even be always on bottom. Devilspie is a great tool for applying some of these features to apps that don't already have them.
