    system hangs on cd/dvd mount

    hi everybody,
i am a suse user.. presently i have suse10.2 version installed on my system.. i am using sony DVD-DOM DDU1642 as an internal disk drive.. i don't know what is the problem, but the system gets hanged on mounting a cd/dvd.. from morning i was breaking my head for this, but no result.. intially it was an automount configuration.. that time the system got hanged as soon as the cd/dvd is inserted into the drive.. i modified /etc/fstab for manual mounting.. now the system is hanging after manual mount.. any idea, what could be the problem.. is it related to drivers or anything else?? thanks in advance..

Reboot with the SuSE install DVD in the drive. When YaST Graphical installer starts, press CTRL + ALT + F2 to open a virtual terminal. Enter the syntax you do to mount the device and then make sure the device is found. If successful, reboot into SuSE and shutdown KDE. start a new session in Command Line Interface and enter the syntax again. If successful, you have to increase the RAM. Probably the GUI takes up much of your CPU.

First, also check if the device is properly connected. This will be done automatically when you do the mount in YaST Virtual Terminal.

    Hope this helps
