    Is openSUSE newb friendly?

I am a Linux newb and I am wondering how easy to use suse is? Is it easy to configure the internet because that is the problem that I had with Ubuntu. And is it legal in the US because some distros that I have looked at look like they are only partially legal in the US like they have drivers that you are not supposed to have.

    Thanks.

"Easy" is a relative term. Some folks find SuSE quite easy, others prefer Ubuntu. Some prefer some other distribution. You won't know until you try. Luckily, 99% of all Linux distributions are completely free of charge, so all it costs you is time.

SuSE is distributed by Novell, and like Fedora they like to err on the side of caution with their distribution. This means no DVD decryption libraries (libdvdcss) or might-be-legal multimedia codecs (MP3). You can legally download SuSE in the US with no worries.

Here's a poll regarding the favorite Linux distros of new Linux users:

OpenSuse has a good share of the votes, so that indicates to me that new users think it's new user friendly.

Im a linux newb as well i've just installed suse 10.0 with limited success. The internet wasn't to hard to get working. As with most distro's that ive played with its just a pain to get all the different forms of media to work right. All in all i like suse and i'd would suggest to someone who is new. This is all from my limited experience so take that into account
