82801db No Error But No Sound In 10.2, successfuly detect hardware, no error, just no

    Hi guys,

I have recently reinstalled suse10.2 on my gateway 3550gz labtop, having lots of fun with it. got most of the things i need working except sound...I have been working on it for 2 days with no luck,,googled every page possible with no working solution..I hope someone can help me solve this problem here.

the sound card is a standard intel ich4 card, 81801db (detected by suse10.2). kmix and everything is working fine, when i play audio or video there is no error msgs just not a sound.

I have tried the following suggestions from variouse sites with no luck:
unload kdemultimedias and reload them, didn't work
mute headphone jack in kmix, didn't work
    reconfigure sound card, didn't work

currently on kernel 2.6.18.8-0.5 (upgraded during installation)

has anyone had semiliar problem? any suggestions and help is very much appreciated.

can you post contents of sudo /sbin/lspci|grep audio or exact name of your audio card

    also try this

mute all channels and unmute Master, Master M, PCM in alsamixer
life is the greatest opportunity that the nature had given you
