error #28: Selected Item Cannot Fit Into Memory
Hello,
I am a novice Linux user and we have a Linux machine set up in our lab. If you need more information please let me know and I will try to obtain it.
One of the lab users was ftp'ing files to the computer using her login ID and copied the files to the / partition (sda). She filled the / completely, not knowing that most of the drive space was located in /home (sdb). Anyways, she moved many of the files to /home so that there was 50% space in sda. However, when she tried to logoff the machine froze and on subsequent bootups the following screen came up.
Booting 'SLES Installer'
root (hd 0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
Kernel /boot/linux vga = 791 Broken Modules = ahci
[Linux-bzImage, setup = 0x1e00, size 0x145733]
initrd /boot/initrd
[Linux-initrd @ 0x9da50000, 0x82432c bytes]
Error 28: Selected item cannot fit into memory
At this point the only thing I can do is hit a key, whereupon the following information appears
GNU Grub version 0.96 (611k lower / 2590228k upper)
Then I can select SLES Installer and it jumps back to the first screen.
Any ideas on what is wrong and how I might be able to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
Paul Metzak
