openSuSE 10.2 - USB Stops working suddenly

I'm having an issue with my USB devices after installing SUSE 10.2.

When i first boot the machine into a fresh install of suse, after a few minutes the keyboard and mouse will stop responding. There are no error messages that i'm aware of. PS/2 Mouse and KB work perfectly fine.

    Here's the setup:

    COMPAQ, SR2163VM
    Open SuSE 10.2
    1 USB Hub, Targus
4 USB Devices plugged into hub, logitech KB and mouse, printer, external drive

This issue is also present DURING installation. It actually locked up the fresh install on me today.

I think that maybe it's having issues communicating with the usb devices because of lack of appropriate drivers. I'm not saavy enough with Linux to figure this out yet though.

This is a dual boot machine, and this problem does not occur on the windows platform.

Any more details needed, i'll be glad to supply! Thanks in advance!

Get a couple of USB to PS2 plugs This will work fine mice and keyboards. I have a KVM (keyboard-vidio-mouse) switch that does no support USB but my USB mouse works fine with the converter plug.

The only problem with that is that this PS/2 kb/mouse dont reach aroun my desk to the computer. So I have to use the usb.

    another note

when i attempt to use gnome-terminal and run lsusb, it never shows the connected usb devices. it just sits there as if an application were hanging.
