S3 Virge DX on Open Suse 10.2

Hi guys. A newbee here. I need some help with my graphic card on gnome. I use OpenSUse 10.2 on a S3 VIRGE DX and i have some problems in "high" resolution (1024x768 ) also minor and the same on 800x600 and refresh rate to 75. I have a 17" CRT Philips 107E6 monitor. I get some scrambled images only when I use the keyboard (standard) and mouse. Just like when you set a resolution that doesn't match your monitor, except there are only some twisted horizontal lines moving upwards. Also I can't select text with the mouse. First i've tried to change the video driver, but i gave up when i've found myself like a cat looking at a calendar. "Ok i see all the numbers, but there are more and why do you turn the pages from time to time? Don't you have better things to do?" 10x

Try reducing the refresh rate to 60.
an S3 is an old card.

Already done that and no change. Maybe the video card has some defect.

OK I changed the video card with a SIS 6326. So I decided to reply for new bees here. At first it didn't worked and it only booted in text mode. So i started to search for a driver (don't do that) instead open Yast and go to hardware / Graphic Card and Monitor. It will open X and tries to configure it. You will have probably to configure yourself. I'm so happy, I have discovered that the earth is round.
