    Question openSUSE 10.2 and KDE

    Hi.

I get a lot of strange errors on my openSUSE experiment box, and I usually end up here on linuxforums.org, where the answers are

However, I've encountered a really strange error; when I boot Linux, all I get is a xterm window, without borders, and I have to start KDE manually by executing "kde". For now I've added a line with "kde" in my .profile file, wihch saves me a lot of typing when I boot (3 characters lol ).
I think it all started after I had hit the reset-button without thinking when I booted wrong OS

Anyone got an idea of what might have gone wrong?

Post the contents of /etc/inittab file here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

If you see something strange here (things that shouldn't be there), please keep in mind this is my experiment box I use for learning linux.

    Anyone?

I also noticed that if I log in as anyone but me it'll work fine.

Sounds like your KDE configuration files are hosed. Rename the .kde folder in your home directory.

    Sorry, but didn't work.

I noticed I'd forgotten to post the output of the xterm window :
    Code:
DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Could not open network socket
DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Could not open network socket
    kbuildsycoca running...
    Reusing existing ksycoca
kio (KSycoca): ERROR: No database available!
    axel@Axel-XP-Linux:~>
I hope this can shed some light on the problem.
