    Can`t Uninstall OO!!!

I`m not a SUSE guru, so don`t be cruel to me.
I have OO 2.0.something installed with openSUSE 10.2 distro. Some days ago I got OO 2.2.
I tried to uninstall existing office, but yast said i`ll got missing dependencies if don`t uninstall quickstarter ...etc. Finally yast suggested me to uninstall a module for kde. I thought it was just another module and agreed...And then yast started to delete installed software..(e.g. k3b, kopete,...)

How can i uninstall OO without these problems?

As I understand what you want is to upgrade to openoffice 2.2
The easiest way to do that is to add the openoffice repository to yast.
Here you can find the repository url and how to add it.

Yes, I want to upgrade openoffice. I have downloaded new release of it an added a "package directory" to list of repositories. i can see these modules in yast package manager (both 2.0 and 2.2, not just openoffice with 2 versions, as it was with smth like opera, etc.), but i don`t want to have 2 versions of office installed. So i want to uninstall previous.

P.S. The computer with suse is not in the nitwork. And i want openoffice with localization.

I have never upgraded openoffice by hand, so I am not the one to help you. Maybe someone can jump in and help Red Phoenix?

Try removing all the openoffice references in yast and if you get the dependency message switch off the check or mark them as ignore in the warning window. I think it just cross references the various rpms and assumes you will have missing dependencies.

When everything is removed you can then add the appropraite version of openoffice again. I've done that in my earlier days with opensuse. Once you get the correct version then updating from the repository becomes straightforward in the future.

I should add that you do this at your own risk because I don't know what else you have that may be affected but I'm reasonably confident that it should work.

i always upgrade packages in my opensuse 10.2 by hand bcoz network connection in my college is quite problematic. if u wanna do so, no problem. You dont have to uninstall OO.just update it using this command:

rpm -Uvh <openofficefilename.rpm> (provided that you keep that rpm packages in your home folder)

of course, there will be some error stated as missing dependencies.just find those needed packages in yast.if i'm not mistaken, the only packages you need for installing openoffice 2.2 are xalan-j2, xerces-j2 & xml-common-apis.those are available in cd/dvd.
