Suse 10.2 Wireless Issues
I have recently changed from Suse 10.1 to Suse 10.2. When using 10.1 everything worked just fine with my wireless card using Kwifi. Now with 10.2 I am having issues. The card is installed and recognized by kwifi and Yast. I have trying setting up the Essid in yast and in kwifi with no luck.
I have verified the the wep key is correct. When using kwifi I get a signal but no IP and it does not recognize the AP. If I remove the wep key I can not get any signal, so I know I have that right. If I scan with Kwifi it will not let me switch to other networks in the area. It shows me other wifi networks but the option to switch to them is greyed out.
I am using an Intel 2200bg internal card on a Gateway laptop. Everything worked great in 10.1. Any help would be appreciated.

HI,
Not a 802.11- expert by any stretch, but have had problems in the past as well...
First, in an attempt to troublshoot, turn off WEP encryption. Just get it out of the way for the time being.
Second, if you have not already done so, try setting ESSID to 'any'. That is the setting that allowed me to go to libraries/coffe shops and use their network.
Oddly, at home, I still must type in my home's broadcast ESSID name explicitly.
My 2 cents,
Tim

HI,James,have you successed?
Have you used the account 'root' for testing?
I encounter the same issue last month, my system is SUSE Desktop 10,I used the user account to connect the AP was failed, even inputed the correct key like you .but used root account was ok and changed back to user account found it has been connected.
I don't know the cause.
