xine problem
hello everyone,
I have a problem with xine...
i'm running Suse 10.2 for a long time now. I have installed the w32 codec pack and since yesterday i had no problem playing any file like .mp3 .avi .wmv
after an update of some files via smart a problem occurred.
1. xine-ui closes automatically just after i open it before i try to do anything
2. kaffeine can't play my .avi files and it returns the following error:
3.Yet, i can play the .avi files with kmplayer and vlcLoading of player part 'XinePart' failed.
Loading of player part 'XinePart' failed.
4. mplayer displays the following error after starting it but it can plays the .avi files
but i can't find the subfont.ttfNew_Face failed. Maybe the font path is wrong. Please supply the text font file (~/.mplayer/subfont.ttf)
4. amarok stopped playing the mp3 files but i can play them by using the xmms.
I tried to uninstall all the xine and amarok things and the w32 codecs too and reinstall them from scratch but to no avail
Any good ideas???
thanks in advance

In 10.1 I just had a xine update also but no problems here.
You might try in smart to downgrade the xine lib to the previous version. If that works lock that version in smart so it won't be bugging you to upgrade.

It didn't work

I tried the xine-check as root and it returned this:
after that i tried to run it from an X terminal but it just says that cannot open DisplayNo DISPLAY found. Need X to check X...
There is not DISPLAY variable set. This indicates that I'm not
having access to an X display. I could check some X properties
if you run me, as you would run xine, from an X terminal emulator...
press <enter> to continue...

Try deleting or renaming the .xine directory in your home. maybe something got confused there.
