Partition problem
Hi everyone,
I had Suse Linux 10 installed on my pc, dual booted with XP SP2 ... now i have 4 partitions on my HD and i want to merge them into 2 partitions.
I'm using Partition Magic 8 for that, but whenever i start the program,im getting message 'partitions are created using different geometry etc... " ,so i cant use PM8 to merge those partitions back. What program should i use to merge those partitions?
Thanks

I don't know if it will help, but take a look at the Parted Magic LiveCD:
Parted Magic
It's a Partition Magic clone so it should be easy for you to use.
It would probably be a good idea to defrag your Windows partitions before going forward, too.oz

As suggested by ozar, PartedMagic will do the job but be careful. SuSe might not boot up after merging partitions. Post the output of fdisk -l here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Thanks for helping out guys, but im gonna need some more help. I downloaded Parted Magic LiveCD but i dont have MERGE option anywhere on the menu . Program recognizes all partitions , but there's no merge option available. Help!

And as for extra info, i uninstalled Suse Linux from the system and now i just want to get my partitions back to 2 (one for my OS and one for my installation setups) .
Thanks!

If I remember correctly, you don't merge partitions. Instead, you delete any unwanted partitions then resize the ones you want to keep.

No luck guys, i just tried deleting partitions and resizing the remaining ones, but can't do it.
PartedMagic sees my partitions as \dev\hdd1\ -30gb and \dev\hdd2\ -60gb .. but within second partition i have 3 others, each with 20gb. I even tried merging with Acronis Disk Director program and that 1 cant do anything about it. Any other ideas ?
Thank you!

First partition is a Primary Partition and you can resize it. You can delete or shrink last Partition and create new partition(s).
