ALSA on SuSe 10.0
Hello,
Since I'm a programmer, I installed many Linux distributions and decided to keep SuSe, but found out that my sound card is not working. On my SuSe 10.0 I have alsa version 1.0.9 installed. Now, under Fedora the sound card worked fine (with alsa version 1.0.14).
Since I'm a complete noob when it comes to Linux, I'm asking you can my problems be solved by uninstalling the old alsa and installing a new one and what is the safest way to do it (is it with Yast2)? If this is not a solution, then please tell me what can be.
Oh, and I have integrated audio card on ASUS P5PL2 motherboard. Hardware name from YaST/Hardware/Sound is "82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller"

There Are Many ways
I don't know if your problems will be solved, but you can find the new alsa here as an rpm:
PackMan :: Informationen zum Paket alsa
There are many ways to do this. You can add Packman as a repos to YaST. .... you can install the Smart Software Package Manager (from guru) and install alsa using Smart. Or you can download alsa and install using the rpm command.
