Suse nto a Laptop
Hello All
I have a laptop running Windows XP, unfortunately the CD/DVD ROM does not work and I have not been able to get a replacement, it does have a floppy drive. I also have a USB CD ROM
I want to load Suse onto it (i am happy to lose the windows XP). Any suggestions how I can do it. If I format the hard disk the laptop will not recognize the CD ROM.
Thanks
Brian

You will need to change the BIOS so that it will boot from a USB device. If your laptop is an older model, this may not be possible.
DVD drives for laptops are fairly generic. You should be able to get a cheap one from an online retailer. You will have to swap the mounting rack from the old one to the new one.Paul

What laptop do you have, If it a modern type try cclonline.com - PC Pro Online Retailer of the Year 2006 for a replacement at a very reasonable price, I had same problem and replaced mine with a dvd rewriter for under £30
