I just received a package from DSL containing a U.S. Robotics 5686 external modem. I left it within the plastic static-guard container. I am not even going to see if it works or not. Anything that quits after just 30 days says a lot about the company making it.

I am just glad this ordeal is over. ( I hope! )

cousinlucky, after over a year or more out of service, I dusted off my old Actiontec external modem yesterday, and she fired right up as though brand new! I've had this modem for about 4 years now, three of those were under active daily service. It's a shame the US robotics modems are comparatively so crappy.

My Christmas wishes for myself, so far, are a digital camera and an actiontec external modem.

Perhaps, if I hit the Megamillions jackpot, I can have a computer built and install Ubuntu on it. ( A dream pie in the sky! )

    Thanks Dan!!
