    RPM locations?

Hi all, this may seem like a stupid question, but I am a Noob to Linux.

I yast, after checking things for install, it shows it downloading the .rpm's and installing them.

Where exactly does Yast download the .rpm files to, and after it installs the app, does Yast then go ahead and delete the .rpm?

    Thanks for the Help
    I am using openSuse 10.3

In earlier versions there was an option to remove the RPM or not. Not at all sure about 10.3

By the way RPM maintains a database of it's installs etc.

Suse 10.3 keeps a list of rpms, but not the rpms themselves. If you watch yast as it installs you'll see a box pass by that says cleaning cache this is yast deleting the rpm.
As to where stuff from the rpm goes that depends on what you installed some of it will go to a file named /usr some to one called /opt. As you evolve in linux you 'll get to know what /usr & /opt are.
As they say here in Suseland "have a lot of fun!"
