ATI X1700, 10.3, video drivers appear to work, but "xfree86-dri" missing for Compiz

OK... I have installed the ATI drivers. I have tried this method:

    ATI - openSUSE

That one-click install sure is fancy. I have added the drivers and "updated" them via Yast. Formatted and reinstalled, tried the one-click method, tried updating, etc etc etc.

Everything appears to work until I try to enable Compiz. First I enable XGL, reboot, and I appear to have no window manager. Just for kicks, on one reboot when I had no window manager, I figured I would try typing:
    compiz --replace ccp &

    When I did I got:
xlib: extension "xfree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0"

Now... when I search on that, everyone says "just reinstall your video card drivers and it will fix the problem". It doesn't, like I said, I've even reinstalled the OS. So... erm... what do I do? What next?

Try typing "emerald --replace" instead. Leave the console window open though.

"emerald --replace ccp &" works as well. What is the usefulness for the "ccp &" though? I don't know what they mean.

Do not know ccp most likely a parameter for emerald but the & starts the process in a new thread.
