    Screenlets on SUSE 10.2



    Ok I recently saw some Ubuntu desktops with those cool screenlets of clocks and CPU gages. I have beryl and emerald themes installed not compiz fusion and am wondering how do I get those screenlets on my SUSE desktop? Also I realize that they are created using python and was wondering if anyone new any good python development tutorials for Linux gnome screenlets? I searched Google on both of these subjects and came up dry, can anyone help?

    You might be referring to gdesklets, or adesklets. You could also look into conky, or gkrellm.

    Maybe one of the four is what you saw?

    I checked out gdesklets, and like what I saw. But how exactly do you download/install gdesklets? I could not find any sites that had a repository list or tutorial for SUSE.

    I've never run gdesklets myself, but here's a HowTo that might help you to get them installed:

    Ok well thank you for the how to link ozar, it really helped. Unfortunately though I downloaded the RPM's and packages stated in the suse how to but for some reason when I click in the gDesklets icon in my utilities section nothing happens. When I run it in a terminal I get this error:

    Looks like you created the gdesklets.desktop shortcut as root check the permissions of that file and make sure that users have at least execute permission or change ownership to your self.
