iwl3945 problem - wireless running slow

Hi there, Before we start forgive my ignorace... i have just installed Opensuse 10.3 on my Sony SZ series laptop to give it a go.

At first i had a problem getting my wireless to work but have since got it working by changing the drivers from "ipw3945" to "iwl3945" as described in this article OpenSUSE Linux on the Sony Vaio TXN25N

now my wireless connects... but is significantly slower than when i connect using windows. However when it does get going, the speed is ok. What i mean is that it takes a long time to actually connect to a website, but im getting ok download speed once it actually has connected. sorry if it doesnt seem to make sense.

Due to my ignorance i dont really know what to post up here to give you guys something to look at... perhaps you could tell me. as i can see, the dhcp is being allocated propely and nameservers are being filled in by it.

    Help?!

    Wireless running slow in Linux

For anybody who is interested in this thread, running the TOP command from the shell can usually tell you if any background programs are eating up your CPU utilization. I killed several processes that way, and my internet started working faster.
