problem with open SuSE 10.2 installation

I am trying to install open SuSE 10.2 on my computer because windows has gotten pretty boring and to original for my liking. Problem is, installation won't work. When i boot from the disc, and click on installation, it says there is not enough memory so i must activate some swap space. I logged into my windows xp, and i used partition magic to set up a linux swap partition of about 524 MB. I felt pretty confident in myself, but when i saved it all and booted it back up, it still said to activate swap space. It gave me a dialog box and wants me to enter something like /dev/sda2/ but i don't know what to type. please help me!!!!

It is best to simply leave free space to install to rather then create the partition with Windows. The installer will make a swap partition. You need to resize the Windows partition and leave at least 10 gig to install Linux. Though if you are going to do more then play with it I would recommend a much larger area. 10 gig does not leave much elbow room

    Suse will create 3 partitions 1)swap 2) home 3) root (/)

How much memory does your machine have? You need at least 512 meg to install Suse. You could get by with 256 but you would need to trim down what is normally installed by default.

well, actually. My computer only has 128 MB but alot of people say that it doesnt matter how much RAM you have because the swap partition can be used instead. And the disc doesnt do it on its' own.

I think you'll need to consider a lightweight distro with 128 MB of RAM. Suse is considered to be more of a heavyweight distro. Here's a poll that was taken regarding distros for lightweight computer hardware:

I won't say that it's impossible to run Suse, but it will probably be really sluggish if it works.

Well it can't if you have only 128 meg! That is far to little to run with Suse. Swap is immeterial if you can't load the basic system. You need to add memory or go for a lite Linux. I suspect with so little memory your CPU video is most likely anemic also. You would never be able to run any of the eye candy.
