Problem in Logging in in SUSE. Why should I follow failsafe mode always?
Till Last 15 days my linux was working smooth. However in last couple of days , I installed some packages as wine, IE6, mplayer, yahoo messanger, sopcast player etc in suse.
Now, when I am trying to login in suse, it is not accepting my username and password. I tried to login as Root, but still it is not working. I returned back to login screen in both cases. However when I goto to console and put the same userid/password for my username or Root, it is working.
On login screen(GUI), I chose the failsafe mode and only giving the username I hit enter. That worked and I got the terminal window. I ran the "kde" command in this window and then my kde started. I restarted my machine couple of times, however I have to follow same steps every time to login.
Is there any solution to this problem? Why I have to login always in failsafe mode?
I have dual boot system - windows vista and openSUSE 10.2 (X86-64). Grub is the boot loader.

Log in normally. When you see the login screen, do CTRL-ALT-F1 and login to the text interface as root. Enter the command "init 3" to shutdown X. After that exit as root, login as a normal user and run the command "startx". Also what graphics card do you have on the system?
