Got openSuse 10.3 64 bit version and tried to get a Samsung ML-2510 running on it.
No luck.
Are there any cheap laser printers mono that run on this OS ...

Help ! Easy install for a printer !
Got openSuse 10.3 64 bit version and tried to get a Samsung ML-2510 running on it.
No luck.
Are there any cheap laser printers mono that run on this OS out of the box.
or
What is a proven way of getting getting this printer to run ?
After 5 hours of thrashing about I'm ready to get a chainsaw to it the PC.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who has any thoughts on this fundamental problem.

I use Brother laser printers and they've always worked fine for me. I'd stay clear of most Lexmarks, though.oz

I'm not sure any printer is literally supported out of the box. Windows doesn't do it, either.
Generally speaking, you have to install either a specific driver, or you have to install a database of drivers and then pick yours from the list. I will say that I've never used a Linux distribution that the last two Brother lasers I purchased wouldn't work with.

Right now I'm using the Brother HL-5150D. I don't remember the model on the previous laser. I generally use the CUPS interface to install.

As for a mono laser printer, I use the Lexmark e232, works well enough
About that chainsaw businss - believe me when I say, I do understand!

At the Samsung web site, this printer is listed as having Linux support. In fact, you can download the driver from here:

The Samsung ML-2510 is showing to work "perfectly" with Linux at the OpenPrinting.org website, too.
