    Angry Java Virtual Machine

Until recently i was able to run applications like FrostWire, or Azureus on my linux machine. Today I tried to run FrostWire but i get this message:

"Cannot find java virtual machine, aborting"

What should i do to fix that? I am pretty sure that I have the jvm installed.

Frostwire seems to rely on jre-1.5, have you upgraded to jre-1.6 ? It may have removed 1.5. Check which version you have installed.

I just had the same issue. It took a while, but I finally fixed it.

It happened to me just after an auto update to Java 1.6 (moved from ...u1 to ...u3). I think that some of the links in the java config info got changed, but some didn't. I tried fixing all of them with "update-alternatives --config java" , but finally got tired of it. To fix it, I uninstalled all of the sun-java files as well as jpackage-utils using yast2. Then I deleted all of the *java* folders I could find.

Just uninstaling and reinstalling the Java stuff was not sufficient. I needed to delete something (prbly some config file).

    Good luck

actually you dont have to uninstall anything. Just open Yast, go to the Java package and choose the previous version (u1) -- so that it will go back one version. Additionally, to keep it from updating, set it "locked" so that it will not update itself. That solved the problem

I think that deleting the folders like that was a bad practice. I would highly recommend that you avoid that in the future as it might interfere with other programs which might depend on those files and folders. Just a thought
