1- How do I get wmv/mp3/divx to play?

    very confiusing...

I just installed the disply driver ATI radeon X1300
and now I can change the display size, and see the ati menu.
but still I think the 3D is not enabled,
when typing "aticonfig" in a terminal, I get a page long of configuration...
do I link the aticonfig to the Xf86 setting?

    Thank you.

The quickest way to see if you have 3D is to run

    glxgears

from a console and note the frame rates. on my 6800 NVIDA card I get 10,000+

You did not say which version of Suse

Here are some instruction but the URL's mentioned are dependent on version

This is for 10.3 if you are using another version there are instruction at the top of the article for instruction on hacking other versions

    1) open a konsole window

    2) type
    glxgears

You will not find it in a menu!!!!

BTW are you using KDE or gnome desktop??

You would have less trouble with a 32 bit version. You really don't need 64 bit unless you need to have more then 3 gig of memory

here is the URL for 10.2

I think you right, I'vve get the 32bit
using KDE (version that came with 10.2)

    5191 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1037.874 FPS
    5160 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1023.108 FPS
    5160 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1023.071 FPS
    5160 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1022.587 FPS
    5160 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1022.551 FPS
    5160 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1022.004 FPS
    5150 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1021.948 FPS
    5160 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1023.066 FPS

Well, it looks like things are only partially there.Something is not right but you do have some acceleration. Did you download the driver from ATI or install though Yast? It is unfortunate but ATI just does not have very good Linux support. NVIDIA is much better.

It looks like the latest drivers do not support your card you need to load an older one.

    Read this carefully

    ATI - openSUSE
