FireFox crashing. Suse 10.3
Fire Fox has been working wonderfully up till last night.
Whenever FireFox tries to open, it crashes immediately. When opened from the terminal, i get this message:
/usr/bin/firefox: line 208: 9404 Segmentation fault $MOZ_PROGRAM "$@"
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall all of the FireFox packages and plug-ins. I reinstalled first with no extra plug-ins.. same problem.
The next bit of info is if I run 'firefox' from the terminal as ROOT.. firefox WILL load.
'
The only major change that I made was adding an ext3 partition to /etc/fstab.
The partition was created from physcal drive that contained no linux file systems originaly.

Make sure Firefox is closed, then try renaming your /home/username/.mozilla folder to something else, then restart Firefox allowing the folder to rebuild itself.
If it starts, you can recover your bookmarks from the renamed folder. If it doesn't work, you can change the folder name back to what it was and be no worse off than what you are now.oz

That did the trick. Thank you very much.
Any idea of what type of things could have caused this?

Just guessing here, but one of the plugins might have corrupted something.
Glad you are up and running again.

ok new development. Having firefox create a new user fold worked. for a total of 3 restarts.. then the original problem returns. I can then delete .mozilla again and it will work for a handfull of restarts again.

Not sure what's going on with it. Did it start crashing after adding one or more plugins back in? If so, maybe it's the last one you added that's causing it.

the first time it crashed I had added nothing to firefox.. the only thing I did system wide was input a new partition into the FSTAB. Though i don't think this may be the cause.
I just tested out several things.. i installed no plugins before each crash. It looks as though my theme is causing the crash.... the theme is isafari. A very nice and sleek firefox theme. I've been using it since before upgrading from 10.2 to 10.3 when it was released. No problems from it.
I did a series of restarts with no theme,, then a couple of random themes. Immediately after downloading and selecting the isafari theme,, firefox crashed.
I find it odd, b/c i've been using this theme for a while with no problems. Well unless they updated the theme and firefox auto updated it for me.. i dunno.. but at least i can run firefox again.
On a side note... something else strange just started while typing this post. Randomly while typing one of my characters will repeat.. kind of like ttttttttthis. hmm. i have a feeling my problems have just begun hah

It is probably an upgrade to Firefox that broke it. I have several themes that I like but no longer run in the current version. You might check the theme download page and see if the theme is compatible with the current Firefox version.

yea the compatible versions for the isafari theme is 2.0 to 3.0a8
it is firefox 2.0.0.8 that I am running. I do not remember seeing firefox say it was updating recently... though my wife could have clicked it.
went to the website of the creator for this theme.. they have a new version in Alpha. I downloaded it also and it caused the same type of crash.

tried some more stuff.... downloaded several different themes. almost all of the themes that are "safari-like" would crash... only a couple of other random themes crashed. So now i know this isn't isolated to the theme i've been using.
if anyone might know whats going on , please chime in
