    where can i configure whick ports are open on my suse-based pc?i want to know if there is someway to activate ftp and ssh ports which are closed in order to use them with my home network

    Well IPTABLES!/Firewall software like Firestarter (at the low end) however in linux if you configure the app's corectly so that they are listening on the apropriate ports then you dont have to open them at all and the app will do it as needed

    You can also use nmap and netcat to port scan your machine afterword and make sure there are no unwanted ports open.
