No, it should actually be over 4GB. I'm not sure what might have caused it to stop, but keep in mind that if you are trying to download to a FAT partition, you'll run into a 4GB filesize limit and the download will stop.
Not sure that this is the case with your download, but the DVD is more than 4GB so you'll need to download it to an NTFS, ext3, or some other compatible partition.oz

I'm using Xp pro / NTFS and I never had a Linux DVD that did that...
can you point me to a valid & working link?
what is the difference from the X86 & X64 version anyway?
I've heard from a user in here that I was giving myself some extra trouble by using the 64-bit version...

You could try the official OpenSuse downloads site:
Software.openSUSE.org
Here are a couple links regarding architecture and 32bit vs 64bit:

Your best bet is to use torrent down load but in any case here is the official link.
Software.openSUSE.org
There is no speed advantage going to 64bits. It only helps if you need more then 3 gig of memory for some reason. Also Third party binaries tend to be 32 bit only. For example Skype Flash etc. Though they will work in 64 bit there is usually some work around or tweeking that would need to be done. If you are a geek and like to play at the cutting edge 64 bit is the way to go but if you want a system that requires the least effort, stick with 32 bit.
